Speldosa is a virtual music box from Klevgrand and Marble Machine creator Wintergatan - CDM Create Digital Music

Production tool or stress relief? Maybe it’s both. Swedish artist Wintergatan, best known for the physical Marble Machine instrument, has worked with Klevgrand to create a software music box in plug-in and app format, and it’s just $6 during the intro.

Okay, if you speak Swedish, that was a little redundant, as I gather I just said “music box is a music box.” But Speldosa did begin life in the acoustic realm; Wintergaten (Martin Molin) sampled four different models. Features here: Box Filling Machine

Now, you may know Molin from the Marble Machine (see below), but they’re quick to point out that music boxes are central to all their music projects:

I created the sound by sampling a music box using an acoustic guitar as resonance box. I chose the best samples and it was instant magic. The Music Box went on to become the sonic signature for my two bands, Detektivbyrån and Wintergatan, both recognised for their unique sound. The Speldosa has been the secret sauce in my music career and i hope other musicians finds it as useful as i have.

So, actually, I stereotype the instrument and say you’ll make nice, calming stuff with this, but maybe someone will do industrial music box or death metal music box. Send those in if you do.

At least you know just need a few bucks and not 2000 marbles:
